Union Square Park Pavilion
Our renovation and expansion of Union Square Park Pavilion were integral to the renewal of this great public park. Weaving familiar existing elements with new construction, our project expands how New Yorkers can enjoy the park to its fullest.
The project included the restoration of the existing historic limestone pavilion built in the early 1930’s. A new maintenance and operations facility was located in an expanded basement space, carved from solid bedrock, that includes space for a restaurant concession’s kitchen.
A new Comfort Station, deferentially situated apart from the historic building, anchors the park corner and defines the restored plaza. The design incorporates both the park’s historic ashlar wall and the new stainless steel fencing that rings the park’s north end.
