NYC Parks Comfort Stations
This comfort station prototype is a model for utilitarian park structures. Economically-constructed of durable materials, each comfort station is designed for both safety and sustainability.
The combination of a distinct parallelogram form and roof line with colored glazed concrete masonry unit walls, helped establish a replicable model. Constructed at Kissena Corridor and John F. Murray Parks in Queens, the simple design easily engages varied urban park sites through adjusting color, roofline, and building orientation. The projects were designed and executed as part of the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation’s Design Excellence program.
